How to pay on Loko: EcoCash, OneMoney, and cash—explained

Zimbabwe pays its own way, and Loko was built for that reality—not around it. EcoCash and OneMoney are woven into checkout, and cash stays a first-class choice, never a fallback we grumble about. This guide walks through every payment path so nothing about money on Loko ever feels mysterious.

Your choices at a glance

You choose per order and per ride, so payday-you and end-of-month-you can behave differently without changing any settings.

  • Mobile money (EcoCash or OneMoney) — approve a prompt on your own phone with your own PIN. Cash-free, receipt-clear.
  • Cash — pay your driver at the end of the trip, or your courier at the door. Simple, familiar, always available.

Paying for food with mobile money

At checkout, select mobile money and place your order. A payment prompt arrives on your phone—enter your wallet PIN to approve it, the way you already pay for everything else.

Here is the part we are proud of: the restaurant receives your order the moment your payment confirms. Until then, the kitchen does not start cooking—so you will never owe money for a meal you did not successfully pay for, and no kitchen ever fires a pan for an order that fell through.

Paying for food with cash

Choose cash on delivery and the order goes straight to the kitchen. When your courier hands over the bag—after you share your delivery code—you settle up in person. That is the entire ceremony.

Paying for rides

Cash at the end of the trip is the everyday default: the app shows the agreed fare, you hand it over, done. Where in-app payment is available, you can settle with EcoCash or OneMoney right from the trip screen instead—the same wallet prompt, the same PIN, no cash to count in the back seat.

What you will never have to wonder

  • What am I paying? The price is on screen before you commit—rides show it before you request, food shows a full breakdown before checkout.
  • Did it go through? Payment status lives on your order screen, and your wallet sends its own confirmation.
  • Who has my PIN? Nobody. Mobile-money approval happens on your handset, inside your wallet—Loko never sees or stores your PIN.
  • What if it fails? Failed payments simply do not become debts. Retry, switch to cash, or cancel—the app never leaves you in limbo.

Quick answers

Which mobile-money wallets does Loko support?
EcoCash and OneMoney at launch. You will see the live options in your app at checkout—as more rails come online, they appear right there.
When exactly does the restaurant see my mobile-money order?
The instant your payment confirms. We hold the order until then, which protects you from paying for a cancelled meal and protects kitchens from cooking unpaid orders.
Can I switch payment methods after ordering?
If your mobile-money payment has not completed, the app offers honest exits—including cancelling cleanly and reordering with cash. Once an order is paid or a cash order is cooking, ride it home.
Do drivers and couriers prefer cash or mobile money?
Partners get paid fairly either way, so pick what suits you. Mobile money means no change-hunting at the door; cash means no wallet balance needed. Both keep the network running.
